KLA is a professionals body for information professionals namely, Librarians, Archivists, Documentalists, Information Technologists and Records Managers working both in the public and private sectors. The association has different categories of membership.
Full Members - persons who have obtained professional qualifications and have been accepted as prescribed by the By-laws
Honorary Members - persons whom the Executive Committee considers to be eligible by virtue of eminence in arts, science or literature, or by services rendered to the Association or its associate professions.
Institutional Members - corporate bodies whose aims and objectives are similar to those of the Association.
Graduate Members - persons who have passed prescribed examinations and have fulfilled such conditions as prescribed by the By-laws
Associate Members - persons who have qualifications lower than degree level (certificate, diploma, higher diploma, etc.) and have fulfilled such conditions as prescribed by the By-Laws
Student Members – Students of Library and Information Science
Visiting Members - shall be persons who are in Kenya for not more than three years and who have fulfilled such conditions as prescribed by the By-Laws
Corresponding Members - shall be persons residing outside Kenya who have fulfilled such conditions as prescribed by the By-Laws
